Do NOT use steel wheel bolts for MB alloy wheels!

I can't repeat it often enough - don't do it!!

The bolts for the steel wheels seem to fit with alloy wheels. They go in and catch. But only about 3 or 4 threads will actually be in contact with the hub. Under load you may lose your wheel and strip the threads in the hub etc etc. Dangerous and expensive.

The arrow line shows the top line of the thread depth needed for alloy wheels. On the steel wheel bolt only 3 threads will catch the hub. Not enough for a safely mounted wheel.
There is one exception thou - Posche aloy wheels can be used with the steel wheel bolts. #27 on my list.

The image below showns it more clearly, how deep (blue arrows) the alloy wheel bolt and the steel wheel bolt go into the hub.

And of course it goes the other way around as well - Bolts for alloy wheels will not fit on the steel wheels - they go in way too far and bind.
