Harold, just wanted to thank you for most awe inspiring event in my life....I was so impressed with the way you handled the rigs and the drive, the professionalism and skill you brought, and instilled, made the trip a journey of a lifetime.

The discussions we had on the trail, both philosophy, religion, literature, fed more of my inner self that I can remember in a long time. I was inspired, to say the least...I know you are working on your books, and I likewise am working on mine. It is entitled "Searching for My Horizon."

If you would permit me, may I forward to you the following poem, which is one of the ones I have written and will write. (Poetry is my medium of choice) I ask that you listen to the feeling rather than the words, and see the meaning rather than the print.

Once again, I wish to thank you. Let me hear from you now and again.

Pete Haley

SUN SETTING ON THE HORIZON

A journey
like no other...
unfolding, layers
flaying open
to be examined,
studied,
lived.....
a journey taken
amid the colors
of the sun
on the plains of the mind
often like the deserted sands
before us all,
stretching endlessly
towards the end
where earth meets sky
and where man meets man
and the one thing
separating the two
joins them, at last.
