Yes, Jeep engineers indeed test drive all their products on the Rubicon Trail at least once a year. However, as you see they resort to a few modifications to help the vehicles survive.
Even though these guys are among the most experienced off-road drivers, severe damage of the vehicles cannot be avoided. The pictures were taken after completion of 4 miles - 8 more to go!
Since the rear overhang is a major limiting factor in most modern SUVs the Chrysler engineers simply cut the lower half off. |
