"Prehistoric" cars need a little different treatment to start them.

They are carbureted and like a few pumps of gas before you start the engine. So please pump the gast gently about three times before you turn the ignition key. Please do so every time.

Pump three times (please be gentle - no need to hit the pedal hard)



Now turn ignition switch to "on"



then start the CJ by turning the separate starter switch in the center of the dash



to turn off the engine you will have to turn the switch on the steering column to "off".




The Jeep Wrangler is fuel injected and does not need the "pump" action.
