Turning an off-road vehicle around

You know already that you must not turn your steering wheel when the car is not moving.

Now what are you going to do when you want turn your truck around on a narrow trail? Don't you have to turn your steering to get the wheels in the opposite direction once you are stopped when changing directions?

Nope!

Here is how it is done properly:

Start driving turning hard right * - the last three feet before you stop, straighten out your steering (that will make it unnecessary to turn the steering left while the truck is stopped)
* )
Whe you make a hard turn and your steering wheel reaches the end of travel - back up the steering wheel an inch or so to relieve the stress on your steering pump.

After starting to drive in reverse, turn steering hard left - and then during the last three feet before you have to stop, straighten out the steering.

After starting to go forward again, steer right and eventually straighten out.
