do not straddle large objects (rocks) on the trail

One of the skills every driver of an off-road vehicle has to develop, is to judge how high rocks on the trail are. Are they a possible danger for the truck? More specifically, are they so high that they could damage the lowest points of a truck - usually the differentials?

A clear warning sign is, when rocks have sratch marks and aluminum shavings on them. Telling you that this rock was too high for other - so it might be too hich for you. Watch out.

Drive in a way that rocks pass under the vehicle left or right of the differential(s) - because the axles have more clearance next to the differential(s). If in doubt whether that will work out or not, place your left or right tires ontop of the rock and drive over it.

The rock sticking out of the ground has many scratches ontop and might be too high for straddling.

Now this rock was definitely too high!

Outch!
