Setting up a tent

If you should decide to use one of the tents, find yourself a level spot to set it up. If your spot is ever so slightly tilted you will have an uncomfortable night. No tarp needed under the tent.

Please store the bags for the tent (and all other bags for that matter) in a safe place overnight. Remember: If it can fly away - it will fly away. Best is to keep all bags inside the tent. Stuffing them "somewhere" in the car usually makes them "disappear".

Even though it is fairly simple to set up a tent, I'll help you with that task if you are not that familiar with them yet. It is a job best done by two people anyway.

Later, when you "live" in your tent please open and close the zippers carefully. They tend to fall apart when you jank them a little too hard. I am losing about one tent on every trip due to busted zippers.

Start out with laying the tent flat on the ground so that the sleeves for the poles are easily accessible. Please do not step on the tent fabric.

The easiest way to get the poles into the tent fabric is to keep it flat on the ground, straighten it out and push the poles carefully in while wiggling them. If they are halfway in and you start pulling them through - they will separate. Just get down on your knees and keep pushing them through. It'll work out perfectly. Please do not step on the tent fabric.
