RE: Who is killing the Rubicon

Ive been down the Rubicon 3 times in the last few years. Aside from the human waste/TP flowers, its not in bad shape at all considering its a COUNTY ROAD. Its beautiful, relaxing, Im refreshed when I come out the other side 3 or 4 days later. I enjoy the challenge the trail provides and I especially look forward to running the Little Sluice.
You and several of your respondents have addressed several issues and of those, three appear to require legal attention drinking while driving, leaving the road, and firing a weapon in an unsafe manner. Getting drunk and getting loud, while maybe behavior that you dont approve of, is not and SHOULD NOT be an actionable issue. After all, when we begin to deny people the right to behave in a manner that we personally find objectionable what has become of freedom and individual rights in this country? Frankly, I find the tone of your website a bit elitist. Get over yourself.
Mind you, I do not drink and I would not wish to camp next to those that drink excessively and then get loud and rude. That is why I go in on a Sunday and come out the following Wednesday or Thursday and I skip big holiday weekends. But it is not my place to dictate other peoples behavior so long as it is not illegal.
The root of the problem of rude behavior is that people are raised without respect for others and is not going to be solved by locking up a trail or infringing on the rights of people who do not behave as you wish. It is a societal problem and wont be solved until we allow discipline back into our schools and hold parents responsible for their childrens actions. Start addressing that issue now and you might have a more respectful Rubicon in 20 years or so. A good start might be voting all Democrats out of office.
