Saving the Rubicon Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 I went on the Rubicon for the first time two weeks ago. We had a great time, my 16 year old son drove the whole way. ............. We made it to Spider Lake without any real trouble. I was troubled by what I saw there though, broken bottles, human waste, toilet paper, and a porta-potty that looked like it was ran over by a 4-by. I was a boy Scout and have been a camper, hunter and fisherman all my life and was shocked to see such disrespect of something so beautiful as Spider Lake. That night there was a drunken group that attempted to run Little sluice, how sad, so much damage to some really nice rigs, and dangerous. One idiot that went through with a Toyota Truck had trouble walking he was so drunk. ............... I just hope that The Rubicon Trail lasts but I don't think it will, too many drunks and idiots.
